  • technical information relating to use of our website, such as browser, device, IP address and cookie information; and

  • transaction information supplied to us by Shopify and relevant payment providers.

We do not normally receive or store your full payment-card details. Payment information is processed through Shopify and the payment providers available at checkout.

3. Information about other people

Your Curation Brief may allow you to provide limited information about other people, such as friends, family members or colleagues, so that we can personalise your quiz.

Please only provide information that is reasonably necessary for the quiz and that you are entitled to share.

In particular, please avoid providing sensitive personal information about other people unless it is genuinely necessary and appropriate.

Information about other people supplied through a Curation Brief will be used for the purpose of creating and delivering the relevant quiz. We will not use that information to contact those people or market to them.

Extra care should be taken when providing information relating to children.

4. How we use your information

We may use personal information to:

  • comply with legal, regulatory and tax obligations.

We will not sell your personal information.

5. Our lawful bases

We only use personal information where we have a lawful basis for doing so.

Contract

We use personal information where it is necessary to enter into or perform our contract with you.

For example, we need your contact details, order information and relevant Curation Brief responses in order to create and deliver your personalised quiz.

Legal obligation

We may process and retain information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, including accounting, taxation, consumer protection and regulatory requirements.

Legitimate interests

We may use personal information where this is necessary for our legitimate business interests and those interests do not override your rights and freedoms.

Our legitimate interests may include:

  • operating and improving Qurated Quizzes;

  • keeping our systems and business secure;

  • preventing fraud and misuse;

  • responding to enquiries and disputes;

  • maintaining appropriate records; and

  • using limited information supplied about other quiz participants where reasonably necessary to personalise the service purchased by our customer.

Consent

Where required, we may rely on your consent, for example for optional marketing communications or certain non-essential cookies.

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

6. Curation Brief information

The purpose of the Curation Brief is to enable us to create a quiz suited to your occasion and audience.

Information supplied through the Curation Brief will be used primarily to fulfil your order.

Please do not include unnecessary sensitive information in the Curation Brief.

We may contact you if clarification is needed before we can complete your quiz.

7. Who we share information with

We use third-party services to operate Qurated Quizzes.

These may include:

Shopify — to operate our online store, process orders and support checkout and payments.

Tally — to host and process responses to our Curation Brief.

Payment providers — to process customer payments.

Email and communications providers — to send order-related communications and provide customer support.

Professional advisers and service providers — where reasonably necessary for accounting, legal, technical or business purposes.

Authorities or regulators — where disclosure is required by law.

We only share personal information where necessary for the relevant purpose.

8. International transfers

Some of the service providers we use may process personal information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards as required by UK data protection law, such as transfers to countries recognised as providing adequate protection or approved contractual safeguards.

9. How long we keep information

We do not keep personal information for longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Order, transaction and accounting information may need to be retained for longer periods to comply with legal and tax obligations. Company tax records are normally required to be retained for six years from the end of the relevant company financial year.

Information supplied through a Curation Brief and other personalisation material will normally be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to create and deliver your quiz, provide appropriate post-delivery support and deal with any complaint or dispute. It will then be deleted or anonymised unless we have another lawful reason to retain it.

Where information is required in connection with a legal dispute, investigation or regulatory requirement, we may retain it for longer where reasonably necessary.

10. Cookies and website information

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies.

Some cookies are necessary for the website, checkout and security functions to operate.

Where required by law, optional cookies such as analytics or advertising cookies will only be used in accordance with the choices you make through our cookie or privacy settings.

You can adjust available cookie preferences through the controls provided on our website.

11. Marketing

We will not automatically add you to a marketing mailing list simply because you purchase a quiz or complete a Curation Brief.

If we introduce marketing communications, we will obtain any consent required by law or otherwise ensure that we have an appropriate lawful basis.

You will always be able to opt out of direct marketing communications.

12. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against accidental loss, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or misuse.

We also use reputable third-party platforms and service providers to operate key parts of our website and order process.

However, no method of transmitting or storing information online can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

13. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights including:

  • the right to be informed about how your information is used;

  • the right to access your personal information;

  • the right to have inaccurate information corrected;

  • the right to ask for information to be erased in certain circumstances;

  • the right to restrict processing in certain circumstances;

  • the right to receive certain information in a portable format;

  • the right to object to certain processing; and

  • the right to withdraw consent where we rely on consent.

Not every right applies in every circumstance.

To exercise a data protection right, contact us at quratedquizzes@gmail.com.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

14. Complaints

If you have concerns about the way we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter.

You also have the right to complain to the UK data protection regulator, commonly known as the ICO.

15. Automated decision-making

We do not currently use personal information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on customers.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our business, services, technology or legal obligations.

The latest version will be published on our website and the date at the top of this policy will be updated.
